Sonder specialises in fit out, refurbishment and construction across all sectors within South East Queensland.

Sonder was founded through the shared vision of two construction business leaders fuelled by a passion for improving the project experience and delivering spaces people could enjoy, and those involved in creating them, could be proud of.

Our founders, James Irving and Tom Miller, have a combined 25 years of industry experience. Seven of these years were spent establishing and leading successful construction businesses in both Queensland and New South Wales, where they delivered numerous high-profile and award-winning projects.

Sonder is a business where people are at the centre, prioritising a positive culture and creating an environment where everyone feels part of the Sonder community.

Our success is built on a shared set of well-defined values.

  • Our company is our people. We care for our colleague’s safety, health and wellbeing, their personal and professional growth and learning, and their financial prosperity. We believe our people should always have a clear understanding of ‘their role and what they are accountable for’, ‘how they are performing in that role’ and ‘what their future holds’. Our obligation is to provide our people with a challenging and fun work environment at Sonder.

  • We view ourselves as a service provider and recognise that our clients always have a choice.

Our service is delivered with honesty, integrity and a great attitude. It is the key to our company’s success.

The measure of whether we are providing our customers with an amazing experience and quality product is that they will return again and again.

  • We believe our people have the right to belong to a team that will provide them with an exciting future and a supportive working community.

The Sonder community is built on mutual trust and respect for each other and extends beyond our direct team to include our team’s family, clients, subcontractors, and the broader communities in which we operate in.

Through the work we deliver, we have the opportunity and obligation to contribute to the broader community.

  • We have gratitude for the work that we do and the opportunities it brings us. We are grateful to be delivering a tangible product within an industry that we are passionate about.

We support each other in appreciating what we have, remaining present and having empathy for others.

  • We strive to be the leading contractor within the markets which we operate in. We take full responsibility for our own successes or failures; we do not externalise.

We accept that we have total ownership and responsibility, even if we do not always have control. We always uphold our commitments. We believe in the opportunity of innovation and seek to continuously improve our people and our services.
